Cathy Eldred

Cathy lead the Bright U3A Wool crafts group on the second and fourth Thursday mornings of the month for 15 years and every person in the group eagerly anticipated these sessions.
She is an incredibly knowledgeable and skilled person in all types of wool and its uses, from spinning, weaving, every knitting stitch and patterns. Cathy is also a wool Judge at Agricultural shows in Victoria, but despite all these achievements she is a very modest person.
There could not be a more supportive or helpful teacher, being so patient with all enquiries and difficulties that members of her classes experienced. Cathy offered patterns, wool and needles and she would also pick up stitches, unwind other peoples knitted items for them and sew up finished garments.
During Covid, Cathy went out of her way to ensure that this group of ladies could continue to meet to maintain their friendships and develop their skills in a safe, healthy environment by meeting outdoors at Nightingales in Wandi.
As if all that commitment wasn’t enough, Cathy also lead a group on the paths and trails of our district in her Pole walking group.
On behalf everyone, I sincerely thank you Cathy for your inspirational journey and incredible tenure as a Convenor volunteer at Bright U3A. We are extremely fortunate and thankful for your generosity and dedication and we wish you all the very best as you pursue your interests into the future.
