A Complete Property Refresh
While the CAC (Community Assets Committee) and Bright U3A closed our centre over the Christmas and January period, the building was far from quiet!
This scheduled break was used to carry out an extensive program of maintenance and upgrades, ensuring everything is in peak condition for our return this year.
Interior
• Carpets in Rooms 1 and 2 received a professional deep clean,
• fabric office chairs and lounge seating were treated to remove allergens and stains.
• all internal glass doors were cleaned
• air conditioner filters were serviced to improve indoor air quality.
• Carmen Armstrong has scrubbed all the floors;
• cleaning of all windows, including the screens, sills, and frames, as well as the back screen door.
• Removed all internal spider webs and debris.
Exterior
• Spider spray treatment
• Comprehensive cleaning of all windows including screens, sills, frames and back door
• Removal of spider webs and debris
• Removal of graffiti from back wall, hopefully deterring further vandalism
• High pressure cleaning of brick walls around the entrance and adjacent concrete
BBQ
The highlight of our recent works is the installation of our brand-new electric barbecue! Bright U3A offers our thanks to Bryan and Judy Pirie for their donation towards the purchase. This addition had quite a journey to get to us—travelling all the way from Melbourne to the Shire depot.
A huge thank you to the Shire’s “Multi Purpose Team” for transporting it to the Centre and getting it perfectly positioned in the shelter.
To ensure everything was safe and ready to go, an electrician was engaged to complete the final power connections. It’s now ready for our next social gathering!
To ensure the space is usable year-round, dedicated lighting was installed with power to the BBQ shelter, turning a simple outdoor corner into a social hub.
The decision by CAC and U3A to close the building for 3 weeks after Christmas was welcomed by all the maintenance workers and tradies, as well as the Shire. They were able to get in unhindered or constrained by U3A activities and were able to complete all the jobs that were scheduled.

The Centre is looking fantastic, and we can’t wait for you to enjoy the improved facilities. The CAC’s and U3A’s decision to utilise the holiday closure means we can now enjoy a cleaner, safer, and more functional environment for all our upcoming activities.
